Automation of Legal Reasoning and Decision Based on Ontologies
نویسنده
چکیده
The main goal of our research is to build a legal reasoning system that performs decision support functions in the criminal domain. The system is based on a rule-based reasoning model which is composed of a legal domain ontology, rule base and reasoning engine. The legal domain ontology is needed for modelling the legal norms of the criminal domain. For this purpose, a middle-out approach is proposed to modularize the ontology in order to reduce the complexity and the difficulties of ontology building process. The rule base contains set of logic legal rules formalized based on the ontology.

A Default-Logic Framework for Legal Reasoning in Multiagent Systems
Using law and evidence to achieve fair and accurate decisions in numerous legal cases requires a complex multiagent system. This paper discusses a framework based on many-valued, predicate, default logic that successfully captures legal knowledge, integrates and evaluates expert and non-expert evidence, coordinates agents working on different legal problems, and evolves the knowledge model over...
متن کاملOntologies and Reasoning to Capture Product Complexity in Automation Industry
The variety of components and the complexity of technical solutions in factory automation push information management based on relational databases to it’s limits in terms of maintenance complexity and usage flexibility. Semantic Technologies account for maintainable, comprehensible and rich schema descriptions as well as state-of-the-art reasoning and SPARQL engines claim to deliver compelling...
متن کاملThe Ontology of Legal Possibilities and Legal Potentialities
Ontologies in a legal expert system must be processed to suit all possible user cases within the field of law of the system. From the logical premises of a deductive system of express rules of law, legal ontologies may be implied to encompass the combinatorial explosion of possible cases that may lack one or more of the express antecedents in the deductive rule system. Express ontologies in ind...
متن کاملDynamic Aspects of OPJK Legal Ontology
The OPJK (Ontology of Professional Judicial Knowledge) is a legal ontology developed to map questions of junior judges to a set of stored frequently asked questions. In this paper, we investigate dynamic and temporal aspects of one of the SEKT legal ontologies, by subjecting the ontology OPJK to MORE, a multi-version ontologies reasoning System. MORE is based on a temporal logic approach. We sh...
متن کاملWhat a Legal CBR Ontology Should Provide
This paper discusses the state of the art in CBR ontologies from the perspective of one developing an improved system for case-based legal reasoning. The paper proposes three specific roles for a CBR ontology and illustrates them in the context of the intended output of the new system: a legal classroom discussion of how to decide a case featuring hypothetical reasoning and abstract analogies. ...
